NORTH HATLEY, Que. — Quebec’s Manoir Hovey was named the number-1 resort and inn in Canada in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2016. In the 100 Best Hotels in the World category, Manoir Hovey came in in 19th position.

Situated on the shores of Lake Massawippi in Quebec’s Eastern Townships region, the five-star resort is a member of Relais & Chateaux, the global fellowship of individually owned and operated luxury hotels and restaurants. The 37 rooms and suites are uniquely decorated in a fusion of traditional charm and contemporary elegance. Most of the rooms have lake views, along with a combination of fireplaces, private balconies and therapeutic tubs. Built in 1900, the resort is modeled after George Washington’s Mount Vernon home.

Fogo Island Inn in Newfoundland was number-2 on the list of top Canadian destinations and 52nd ion the 100 Best Hotels in the World category.

The Travel+Leisure World’s Best Awards rely on guest experiences and hotel/resort rankings are based on readers’ ratings of five characteristics: rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food and value.
