TORONTO — Long-time Marriott associate Mary Holt passed away on Friday after a long battle with cancer.

According to Don Cleary, president of Marriott Hotels of Canada, Holt contributed much to the growth and success of the hotel chain in Canada. She spent many years directly supporting top executives, most recently as executive assistant to Cleary.

During her 17 years with the company, she provided great support to Marriott’s owners and franchisees and was otherwise always at the ready to support all who she came in contact with.

Holt will be remembered by the positive difference she made in the lives of others. Her selfless attitude, endless optimism, entertaining sense of humour and genuine concern all describe the way she lived her life. Holt truly loved her job and loved being a part of Marriott. She embodied the company’s culture of taking care of one another, making time for everyone and lending a hand or ear to anyone in need.

Holt is survived by her husband Peter, their children and her extended family, as well as the many friends she had both in and outside of Marriott. Her obituary, celebration of life details, and an online memorial page can be accessed here.
