VANCOUVER — Following several international posts, Karan Suri has been appointed executive chef at The Fairmont Vancouver Airport.

Born and raised in India and classically trained in traditional and contemporary Indian cuisine, Suri is also well versed in several international cuisines, including French, Chinese and Italian.

The chef started his culinary career in 2005 as kitchen executive with the Oberoi Group in New Delhi and received further training at Raffles, Ritz-Carlton and independent restaurants. He’s also held positions in Singapore, Dubai and Nairobi, working with several Michelin Star chefs.

In 2012, he joined the Fairmont Norfolk in Nairobi as group executive chef and oversaw three properties that also included The Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club and The Fairmont Mara Safari Club. There, he received numerous accolades, including the Best Chef in Kenya honour (Taste Awards).

Suri is looking forward to applying his “local sourced and globally inspired” food philosophy.
