GRAND PRARIE, Alta. — William (Bob) Robert Pomeroy, chairman and founder of Pomeroy Lodging, passed away on June 11, at the age of 72.

Pomeroy was a known trailblazer in the hospitality industry and, over the years, built a legacy that will continue to live on in his name. He spent more than 25 years in the hotel and hospitality industry as both an owner and operator and established the Pomeroy name as being one of the premier hotel groups in Western Canada.

Pomeroy is credited with growing his business from the ground up by creating meaningful relationships with partners, vendors and his people.

Due to restrictions arising from COVID-19, the family is not able to host a formal funeral at this time. However, a special website, rememberingbobpomeroy.com, has been created as a place to share stories, pictures and videos of Pomeroy.

A viewing will be held on June 19, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bear Creek Funeral Home (11802 99 Ave., Grande Prairie, Alta.). A Celebration of life will be held on June 20 at 2 p.m. at the People’s Church (11850-108 St., Grande Prairie). As space is limited, please contact the family directly for details.
