DOHA, Qatar — InterContinental Hotels and Resorts won five awards at the 2011 World Travel Awards in Doha, Qatar.

The awards, dubbed as ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’ by The Wall Street Journal, featured nominations from more than 5,000 companies across 162 countries.

“We are honoured to receive these awards as they represent the views of our peers in the global hospitality industry as well as our guests,” said Simon Scoot, VP, Global Brand Management, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts.

For the third consecutive year, the global hotel chain took home the award for world’s leading hotel brand. The company, which has more guestrooms than any other hotel company in the world, was also voted world’s leading business hotel group; Europe’s leading hotel brand, Mexico and Central; America’s leading hotel brand; and England’s leading conference hotel for InterContinental London, Park Lane.
