TORONTO — InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the 119-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gatineau – Ottawa hotel in Gatineau, Que.

The property is the first modular-build structure in IHG’s Canadian portfolio. The hotel was developed by Quebec-based manufacturer, RCM Modulaire, who specializes in the construction of family housing, temporary buildings and multi-use spaces.

The modular building was created in a factory where block-room units with interior finishes are completed; including the installation of beds, lights, health-and-safety fixtures; wiring and connections; and bathrooms tiled with accessories installed and tested. Units were then delivered to the hotel site for assembly. The buildings maintain the exterior trademark architecture of the Holiday Inn Express brand’s newest design solution.

“We are pleased to add this hotel in our nation’s capital region,” says Jean-François Tremblay, general manager, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gatineau – Ottawa. “We hope travellers will enjoy their stay and explore what the beautiful Outaouais region and Ottawa have in store.”

Additional amenities at the hotel include an indoor pool, fitness center and flexible meeting space. Parking is equipped with power stations for electric vehicles, bike racks and spaces for coaches and accessible guestrooms.
