LONDON, U.K. — InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is investigating a possible payment card breach at some of its hotels in the United States.

The company launched an investigation late last month after a pattern of fraud on customer credit and debit cards was discovered — particularly at Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels — that suggested a breach at some InterContinental properties. According to KrebsOnSecurity, IHG has hired an outside security firm to help investigate.

Several of IHG’s Kimpton Hotels & Resorts properties also fell victim to a malware attack on servers that processed payment cards in 2016. Other hotel chains, including Trump Hotels, Hilton, Mandarin Oriental, Starwood and Hyatt, all experienced similar breaches.
