QUEBEC — Quebec City’s Hôtel de Glace is opening days ahead of schedule, thanks to the chilly weather that set the scene for the 44-room ice hotel and bar.

Open from Jan. 5 to March 23, the Quebec City winter staple is set to offer activities such as a behind-the-scenes tour where participants can learn how the hotel was constructed as well as a huge outdoor tube slide and snowshoe trails. Inside, the design will incorporate themes from popular myths and legends from around the world. “Even as we use them to demystify the arts of winter, snow and ice provide many creative and original ways to tell these fascinating tales. This is truly an ever-changing, ephemeral work of art,” said Serge Peloquin, artistic director of the Hôtel de Glace.

Now in its 14th year, the hotel is set to receive 100,000 visitors and 18 weddings.
