CHICAGO — Hyatt Hotels Corp. joins the list of hotel chains affected by a security breach through its payment-processing systems.

The company announced today that it identified malware on computers that operate the payment-processing systems for its managed locations. Franchised units were not affected. “As soon as we discovered the activity, we launched an investigation and engaged leading third-party cyber security experts,” says Chuck Floyd, global president of Operations, Hyatt Hotels Corporation. “We have taken steps to strengthen the security of our systems and customers can feel confident using payment cards at Hyatt hotels worldwide.”

Other chains recently experiencing point-of-sale security breaches include Hilton, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Trump Hotels, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and White Lodging.
