WHITEHORSE — Northern Vision Development LP (NVD) has announced plans to build a 100-room Hyatt Place hotel in Whitehorse, Yukon, marking the first Hyatt-branded hotel in the territory. The hotel is expected to open in early 2024.

The hotel will offer a breakfast bar, a market serving prepared meals, a full-service restaurant, a coffee/cocktail bar, event spaces and a fitness centre.

“Hyatt Place Whitehorse will bring a new class of hotel to the market,” says Rich Thompson, CEO of NVD. “We considered an extensive range of options and landed on the Hyatt Place brand because of a strong fit with the Hyatt team and because we felt the brand was ideal for our Main Street location. This is an exciting next step for the NVD Hotel Division.”

“Hyatt Place Whitehorse will bring a new and dynamic product to the marketplace and is a great example of our continued focus on growing premium hotels that will attract business and leisure travelers alike,” says Scott Richer, Hyatt’s regional vice-president of Development for Canada. “As the first Hyatt hotel in Canada’s North, we’re thrilled to collaborate with the Northern Vision Development team on this important project. I want to offer my congratulations and gratitude to everyone at Northern Vision Development who collaborated with us in order to bring this standout development to fruition.”
