TORONTO — New York, Las Vegas and Chicago top the list of destinations Canadians like to visit most, according to Hotels.com’s Hotel Price Index (HPI).

New York has always been a top destination for Canadians, with average hotel rates of $254, whereas Las Vegas offers the best travel deals at $107, on average. Chicago jumped from the number-10 spot in 2010, to number 3 in 2011. The average daily rate for hotels in Chicago is $166.

According to the HPI, Canadians, also enjoy travelling to London, Paris, Rome and Hong Kong.

The HPI is a biannual report that shows hotel prices in cities around the world. The data is based on bookings made through the Hotels.com website, and the prices listed are the actual prices paid by Canadians. The report compares prices paid in 2010 with those of 2011.
