SAN FRANCISCO — The discount travel site Hotwire.com has unveiled a list of the top domestic destinations with the biggest price drops in Canada over Christmas weekend, and Chilliwack, B.C. comes out on top, with a 29-per-cent year-over-year (YOY) price drop and an average price of $115/night for a 4.0-star hotel.

“During the holidays, people are on the hunt for deals wherever they can find them,” said Henrik Kjellberg, president, Hotwire Group. “At Hotwire, we’ve made it easy for last-minute holiday travellers to find great deals by combing through our pricing data to pinpoint fantastic destinations that offer a combination of unforgettable holiday activities and low prices.”

The remaining top domestic destinations with the biggest price drops over the Christmas holiday include:
Mont-Tremblant, Que. with a 20-per-cent YOY price drop and an average price of $181/night for a 3.5-star hotel; and Whistler, B.C. with a 20-per-cent YOY price drop and an average price of $243/night for a 4.0-star hotel.

Other destinations include Hamilton, Saint John, N.B., Quebec City, Winnipeg and Banff, Alta.
