CLEVELAND — A number of hotel operators in Scandinavia, including First Hotels, Scandic Hotels, Thon Hotels and Nordic Choice (the Choice Hotels International affiliate), have pulled out from contracts with Expedia due to a rate-parity disagreement, according to HotelNewsNow.com.

“We want to be able to control our prices in all channels — for example, having the lowest price on our web[site]. That is not possible if you operate with rate parity,” wrote Jan Lundborg, VP of Revenue Management and Distribution of Scandic Hotels, via email as quoted by HotelNewsNow.com.

Meanwhile, according to the HotelNewsNow.com report, Expedia’s Adam Anderson, director of Industry Relations confirmed the operators and Expedia had yet to reach agreements on new contracts and that a number of hotels in the Scandinavian region have removed inventory from the site.
