MONTREAL — Louis-Robert Handfield has been appointed chairman of the Hotel Association of Quebec.

Handfield has been with SilverBirch since 2006 when he joined the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure as its general manager. He has also been a member of the AHQ since 2006 and a Board member since 2008.

Awarded Hotelier of the Year by Hotelier magazine in 2006, the new chairman has an extensive background with more than 10 years of experience in South East Asia, including stints managing Raffles City Convention Center in Singapore as well as leading several top hotels in the world.

“We are proud of Mr. Handfield and his passion for the hotel industry,” said Robb Walker, senior vice-president of Operations for SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts. “He is a well-seasoned hotelier with the experience and network to lead the Quebec hotel industry, and we are confident he will make a valuable contribution to the Hotel Association of Quebec,” said Walker.
