MCLEAN, VA. — Homewood Suites by Hilton has signed one new hotel property in Manitoba and two properties in Ontario.

“Homewood Suites’ focus on Canada demonstrates our commitment to this international market and the opportunity we believe exists for the extended-stay segment,” said Bill Duncan, global head, Brand Management, Homewood Suites by Hilton.

The first property, featuring 112 rooms and owned by MLS Management Ltd., will open in Winnipeg in late 2013. “Expanding our footprint into Manitoba, we are excited this property will be built utilizing elements of Homewood’s new Generation 9 prototype. The new model provides developers greater site flexibility and construction savings, two things that will let us continue our expansion in Canada,” added Duncan.

Both Ontario properties, the 104-room Toronto-Ajax property and the 97-room St. Jacobs property, are slated to open in 2014.

Coupled with three additional agreements earlier this year, the brand’s Canada portfolio has grown by 60 per cent in 2012.
