MCLEAN, Va. — As international tourism to Canada, as well as domestic tourism, continue to increase, Homewood Suites by Hilton is making its move into more urban and suburban markets with six hotel openings this year.

“As the Canadian tourism market continues to grow and become more lucrative, it remains an important area for development for Homewood Suites,” said Bill Duncan, global head, Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton. “Hotels under the Homewood Suites brand flag have earned the trust of guests over the years and are the answer to the increasing demand for the extended-stay product in Canada.”

In the first quarter Homewood Suites hotels opened in Hamilton, Ont., and Winnipeg, bringing the company’s property total in Canada to 12, and marking the brand’s first foray into Manitoba. Four more openings are slated for Q2, including the Homewood Suites by Hilton Calgary-Airport, Alberta and the Homewood Suites by Hilton Ajax, Ontario this month; the Homewood Suites by Hilton Halifax-Downtown, Nova Scotia in May; and the Homewood Suites by Hilton Waterloo/St. Jacobs, Ontario in June.
