TORONTO — Hockley Valley Resort and Adamo Estate Winery has been sold to Sunray Group of Hotels Inc.
The sale of the approximately 300-acre Orangeville, Ont. property was facilitated by Colliers International Hotels on behalf of Hockley Valley Resort Limited and LJP Corporation.
The year-round resort features 104 guestrooms and suites, 16,100 sq. ft. of meeting space, three farm-to-table restaurants with two patios and four additional F&B outlets. The property also features attractions such as an 18-hole championship golf course, 15-run ski and snowboarding hill and 8,000-sq.-ft. destination spa.
Approximately 77 acres of the resort are dedicated to Adamo Estate Winery, which launched in 2016.
My family had originally owned this particular area of land in the 1800’s when 2 generations prior we had first come to Canada. Our original branches were: Hockley, Cavers, McCarther and 13 other unknown families that we don’t know what happened to. We sold the property in 1870 – 1900’s – the time is unknown. We sold the property for $500 per acre to an unknown group and we lost the land. Our family name was then changed multiple times and the current one is now Andrews.
