Dual-Banner LEED Hotel by Groupe Robin

GRANBY, Que. — Groupe Robin has announced that its fifth hotel built and managed by the family business will be located in Granby, Que. Building on its nearly 15-year partnership with the IHG chain, the company is opting for a brand new dual-banner hotel, including a Holiday Inn Express & Suites and a Candlewood Suites. This project represents an investment of $20 million.

The dual-banner hotel will offer 128 rooms and studios, including 83 rooms designed according to the standards of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites banner and 45 studios with a fully equipped kitchen to meet the needs of long-stay customers. The project also includes a future expansion to add 40 rooms.

The hotel’s signature design will create a warm and welcoming atmosphere through a selection of elegant, accessible and eco-friendly materials. The choice of colour accents on the exterior and interior is a nod to the Granby Zoo.

The facilities and services will include a gym, an indoor swimming pool, a hot buffet-style breakfast, an outdoor terrace with barbecue, a laundry room, a storage area for bicycles and electric bicycles, a market area for inexpensive meals and a loan service for specialized kitchen appliances.

Additionally, the company is engaged in a LEED certification process for its new hotel. This will be the group’s fifth LEED hotel.

“Fourteen years ago, in 2010, we opened our very first Holiday Inn Express hotel in Saint-Hyacinthe. It was the first LEED certified hotel in Canada and the first in North America for the IHG chain,” says Nellie Robin, president of Groupe Robin. “We’re proud to build and operate projects that are resilient to climate change and that are a real plus for the community.”

Additionally, the group is working to develop a collaboration with regional businesses, the convention centre and the Granby Zoo in order to position itself as a partner of choice to welcome a diverse clientele (corporate, sports groups, family and leisure) during major events, conventions and in high season.

The group is also prioritizing the use of local partners for the construction of the hotel. Nearly 100 workers will be deployed by the developer and subcontractors to ensure the building takes shape. The group plans to create around 30 new quality positions to operate this hotel.

Construction of this project is scheduled to begin in late winter 2025 for an opening in spring 2026.
