OTTAWA ― Ottawa-based Green Key Global and Longueuil, Que.-based La Tablée des Chefs have partnered to promote sustainable development in the hotel industry and encourage hotel operators to reduce food waste.

Hotels operators can support these efforts by donating ready-to-eat surpluses, enabling people in need to enjoy quality food. La Tablée des Chefs will pair hotels with a local food shelter and operate the food-recovery logistics. The process is a simple, safe and effective tool with positive impacts on the environment and the community.

Hotels that support the reduction of food waste will be recognized in the Green Key Eco-Rating Program graduated rating systems designed to recognize green hotels, motels and resorts committed to improving their environmental and fiscal performance.
