KELOWNA, B.C. — Yesterday, Kelowna, B.C., city council approved a proposal by Edmonton-based developer, Westcorp, to build a $65-million hotel and conference centre on the waterfront, as reported by Global News.
The development comprises a 24-storey hotel with 214 guestrooms, ground-level retail shops and office space, a conference centre that will accommodate approximately 300 people and a parking lot.
The new boutique hotel will be constructed on the site of the former Willow Inn, on the corner of Queensway Ave. and Mill St. A proposed walkway will connect the hotel’s green space with the adjacent Kerry Park and waterfront.
Construction is slated for mid-2015 with an expected opening in 2017. [globalnews.ca]
