TORONTO — Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has appointed real-estate developer Richard (Dick) Friedman to its Board of Directors.

“We are pleased and fortunate to welcome Dick Friedman to the Board,” said Isadore Sharp, founder and chairman Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. “He brings a wealth of development experience, insight and leadership that will no doubt support the positive growth Four Seasons has already achieved.”

Friedman began developing hotels and mixed-use projects in the early ’70s. His portfolio includes the Liberty Hotel in Boston, the St. Regis San Francisco, the Brookline Marriott Courtyard, and Hyatt hotels in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Princeton, New Jersey. He is president and COO of Carpenter & Company, a Boston-based real-estate development firm.

Friedman is also the former chairman of the National Capital Planning Commission and was appointed by U.S. President Barack Obama to the President’s Export Council.
