NEW YORK — The team at Forbes magazine is kicking off the new year with the release of its Forbes Travel Guide, which includes its Global Star Ratings.

“Our Star Ratings recognize the finest hotels in the world. They serve as guideposts for consumers seeking exceptional travel experiences, and our primary mission is to serve the consumer,” said Michael Cascone, president of the Forbes Travel Guide.

Overall, Asian, American and European hotels faired best on the list with Hong Kong, Macau, New York City and London housing the most Five-Star hotels in the markets Forbes rates, with seven in each city. Meanwhile the Toronto-based Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts hotel group has the most hotels on the famous five-star list, with 18 properties across the world making the cut. Included in that number, is The Four Seasons Hotel Toronto; it opened in October 2012 and is the only hotel in Canada to receive both the Forbes five-star rating and the AAA Five Diamond.

Other Canadian hotels that earned a five-star rating on the Forbes list include, the Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver and the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Toronto

The Forbes Travel Guide awards a five-star, four-star or a recommended rating by evaluating the properties based on pre-determined criteria. [forbestravelguide.com]
