TORONTO — The Fairmont Royal York has revealed its newly reimagined Fairmont Gold offering — the brand’s exclusive luxury “hotel-within-a-hotel” experience — on the 12th through 18th floors of the hotel.

“The new Fairmont Gold signals an enhanced standard of luxury at Fairmont Royal York. We are excited to unveil the highly anticipated offering as we prepare to celebrate the hotel’s 90 years in June,” says Edwin Frizzell, regional vice-president and general manager, Fairmont Royal York. “As one of Canada’s most historic hotels, it is with pride and a sense of responsibility that we honour our distinguished past; the new Fairmont Gold exquisitely captures the hotel’s timeless grandeur yet embodies a modern essence, creating a glamorous, contemporary urban oasis complete with premium butler services and exceptional amenities.”

The hotel commissioned Champalimaud Design to revitalize its Fairmont Gold experience. Along with an intimate private lounge, Champalimaud reimagined Fairmont Gold’s collection of 106 new elegantly appointed guestrooms, studio suites and one-bedroom suites. All guestrooms and suites feature expanded spaces, with both classic and modern details creating bold, visual statements inspired by the hotel’s original 1920’s Art Deco geometrics.

“As designers, and ‘cultural anthropologists,’ we were privileged to fuse the hotel’s past into a wonderfully majestic and elegant future with the redesign of Fairmont Gold,” says Jon Kastl, partner, Champalimaud Design. “Our vision was to stay true to Fairmont Royal York’s timelessness while creating a sophisticated, metropolitan feel in a luxury residence. Every element of the design was carefully selected, with European influences woven throughout, to lend a subtle hint to Canada’s English and French heritage.”

The 18th floor features the Fairmont Gold Lounge complete with a private arrival experience. Illuminating and reflective suspended fireplaces and an open work area with a library and curated book collection complete the design.

The Fairmont Gold floors also showcase a curated selection of artwork, chosen by Toronto firm, Tatar Art Projects. The art embodies the sophistication of Toronto and is a visual narrative of the city, including hand-painted wallpaper in the check-in area that was inspired by Toronto’s inclusive cultures.

The hotel’s executive chef, JW Foster, was inspired by the history of Toronto’s most authentic neighbourhoods when creating culinary offerings for the penthouse-style lobby lounge. The all-day food and beverage experience in the lounge is complimentary and includes evening hors d’oeuvres, a premier honour bar with signature Fairmont Gold cocktails, spreads — including the hotel’s award-winning rooftop honey — and organic cold-pressed juice blends.

Fairmont Gold at Fairmont Royal York also features a sleep-and-wellness program, including an exclusive in-shower, aromatherapy and aromachology (based on scientific study and psychology) experience. Fairmont Gold also provides guests with a dedicated sleep program to ensure a peaceful rest, complete with a dedicated pillow menu with options including vegan-friendly material, temperature regulated or calming lavender-infused pillows. A complete program is set to roll out in late 2019.
