“China is a key market for the global expansion of our company, to support our hotels within the country as well as to create brand awareness with Chinese international travellers,” said Chris Cahill, president of Fairmont. “The addition of Taiyuan allows us to continue building synergies in the region, particularly in Northern China, and to become part of an exciting new chapter of this historic city, with partners who are leading the development of this emerging new business district.”
The luxury mixed-use development, on the shores of the Fen River, will feature residential accommodations, a private club, retail facilities and the hotel. Fairmont Taiyuan will house 330 guestrooms and suites as well as function spaces, lounges, restaurants and a Willow Stream Spa.
Fairmont Taiyuan will be the newest in a string of the chain’s hotels in the country, including Fairmont Beijing, Fairmont Nanjing, (2012); Fairmont Peace Hotel, Shanghai and Fairmont Yangcheng Lake.
