TORONTO — Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has joined with business developers in Istanbul, Turkey to premiere a new property, scheduled to open in 2016.

The Fairmont Quasar, developed by Viatrans-Meydanbey, a Swiss-Turkish joint venture, will be part of the Quasar Istanbul complex, a new mixed-use development. The 210-room Fairmont Hotel and residences will include a Fairmont Gold section, lounges, restaurants, 2,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and a Willow Stream Spa.

“Istanbul is an exciting, dynamic city that will appeal to our business and leisure guests,” said Jennifer Fox, president, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. “As well as complementing our other developments in the region, it is very exciting to be partnering with Viatrans on this amazing project blending hotel, residential and community space.”

The Fairmont Quasar joins the brand’s recent international properties, including the Fairmont Kyiv in Ukraine, the Fairmont Baku, Azerbaijan (opening this year), and the Fairmont Pekin, Moscow (to open in 2016).
