The Gatsby Mansion restaurant, across from Victoria’s Inner Harbour on Belleville Street has reopened under executive chef D’Arcy Ladret.
“We are very excited about the reopening of The Gatsby Mansion Restaurant,” said Bernd Bohl, general manager of Huntingdon Hotel & Suites, and The Gatsby Mansion. “Overlooking Victoria’s Inner Harbour, it is the perfect place to showcase executive chef D’Arcy Ladret’s elegant, local, Vancouver Island dishes, including introducing a new afternoon tea to Victoria.”
Since graduating from the Camosun College Professional Cook Training Program in 1997, Ladret has worked at some of the most well-known kitchens around Vancouver Island, including the Sooke Harbour House, The Sidney Pier Resort & Spa, and most recently, as executive chef at Royal Roads University. Previously, Ladret’s work has been featured in Art Culinaire Magazine, Western Living, the Victoria Times Colonist, and on the cover of Los Angeles Magazine.
“I am thrilled to present a menu for the Gatsby Mansion Restaurant that celebrates the harvest from Vancouver Island’s shores, farms and forests – ingredients that have been a part of my life growing up on the coast and will now become the hallmark of my kitchen team’s culinary style,” says Ladret. “We are presenting the best of our region throughout the seasons and are delighted to be featuring many local producers on our menus.”
These features include Saanich Organics spring greens, Qualicum Beach scallops, wild BC Morel mushrooms, wild Pacific Coho salmon, Island Farmhouse poultry, Salt Spring Island cheeses, and locally smoked and cured meats. Menu items range from $10 – $18 for appetizers, and $21 – $34 for dinner main courses. Lunch features dishes ranging from $10 – $22.
Ladret has also created a menu for Afternoon Tea, with scones and shortcakes, an assortment of sandwiches and signature pastries all served alongside the guests’ choice of tea from the Gatsby Mansion Restaurant’s Loose Tea Menu featuring herbal, black and green teas from local tea company, Silk Road. The cost for Afternoon Tea at The Gatsby Mansion is $32 per person.
The Gatsby Mansion Restaurant will open for Lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Afternoon Tea from 2 to 4 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-663-7557.
