KEENE, Ont. — Anne Marshall, director of International Sales and Marketing at Elmhirst’s Resort, has been inducted into Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s (TIAC’s) Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame. Marshall joined her partner, Peter Elmhirst, who received the honour in 2006.

Marshall has many years of experience in the hotel, transportation, resort and travel sectors. Early on in her career, she was a travel agent before becoming district Sales manager at Wardair in Winnipeg, Man. From there, Marshall worked as an inflight manager and then moved on to CN Hotels, where she met Elmhirst.

“I see my network like a garden that needs to be tended to on a regular basis. You have to work at it and be genuinely interested in what’s happening with people you know in the industry,” Marshall told The Peterborough Examiner.

Furthermore, Marshall held many volunteer positions, including chair with Peterborough Kawarthas Tourism, the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, Resorts of Ontario, as well as board positions with United Way of Peterborough and District, Ontario Tourism Education Council and the Travel Media Association of Canada.

“I’m the storyteller,” Marshall told The Peterborough Examiner. “I get to tell people who we are, what we do. I get to tell our story.”
