VANCOUVER — Destination Canada’s (DC) latest Tourism Snapshot revealed continued growth. July marked the fourth month of double-digit expansion this year, with overnight arrivals from DC’s 11 international markets up 12.8 per cent over July 2015 to 2.86 million.

Canada has seen year-to-date (YTD) gains in all of DC’s 11 international markets with the exception of Brazil (down 0.8 per cent). Particularly strong growth was observed for South Korea (up 24.5 per cent) and China (up 24.0 per cent). Overall arrivals from these markets have grown 11.3 per cent to 9.91 million visitors in 2016.

National hotel indicators for July were also trending to the positive with a 2.4 per cent increase in occupancy. RevPAR and ADR each saw significant year-over-year increases in July, growing by seven per cent and 10.5 per cent respectively. However, YTD growth of these key indicators have been fairly moderate, with occupancy remaining flat, RevPAR up 3.2 per cent and ADR up 3.1 per cent.
