TORONTO – Delta Hotels and Resorts is pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew Cornell to Director of Asset Management effective February 1, 2012.

In his new role, Cornell will be responsible for contributing to a high level of integrity for the company’s physical assets and maximizing returns for those hotels within the Delta portfolio, which are owned directly or indirectly by the parent bcIMC (British Columbia Investment Management Corporation).

Cornell is an accomplished professional with over nine years of experience, to which he spent in various positions within the hospitality industry.  Prior to joining Delta Hotels and Resorts, Cornell worked as a Senior Consultant at PKF Consulting in Toronto, where he developed his hotel valuation and investment management expertise.  Prior to that, Cornell’s progressive roles have seen him develop through various management positions within companies such as Sodexho Canada and Hilton Hotels and Resorts. 

Cornell holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce specializing in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Guelph, and a post graduate certificate in Real Property Valuation from the University of British Columbia.  Cornell also recently received a certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management from Cornell University.  Cornell will continue to be based out of the Delta Corporate office in Toronto.
