TORONTO — Avison Young is building upon its footprint in the Canadian hospitality sector with the appointment of Curtis Gallagher as principal, Canadian Hospitality Lead.

“Curtis is an incredible addition as we help Canadian hotel owners and investors make strategic, critical real-estate decisions,” says Mark Fieder, principal and president of Avison Young in Canada. “In this newly created role, Curtis will demonstrate why he is among the best in his field at providing counsel to hospitality-sector clients as they navigate the challenges experienced during the pandemic and beyond.”

Gallagher will be responsible for overseeing the Canadian arm of investment sales and financing of hospitality properties. He will work with institutional investors and private operators, helping them achieve successful real-estate outcomes. Gallagher’s leadership will include developing the strategy behind driving results for clients, and harnessing talent among the Avison Young team.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Curtis to the Avison Young family,” says Joe Almeida, principal & managing director, Toronto. “Curtis’ reputation as a strategic thinker and seasoned leader means he is strongly positioned to grow the hospitality team in Canada and deliver tangible results for our clients.”

Gallagher brings 27 years of experience in hotel operations and real-estate services, having worked with prominent hospitality brands such as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Delta Hotels and Resorts and InterContinental Hotels. Gallagher has spent the last 20 years in Canadian commercial real estate, leading other hospitality divisions. Among his professional achievements are the sales of the Westin Bayshore Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Empress Hotel Victoria, Westin Harbour Castle Hotel Toronto, Hyatt Regency Montreal (now Hilton Doubletree) and the Delta Ottawa Hotel & Suites. A graduate of Ryerson University’s Hospitality & Tourism and Economics programs, he is a licensed real-estate and mortgage agent in Ontario.

“Having followed Avison Young’s successful expansion to many markets around the world over the last few years, I am impressed with the quality of the people and the firm’s appetite for strategic growth,” says Gallagher. “The people-first culture and the commitment to leveraging data and analytics to inform client strategies are very appealing.”
