LONDON, England — According to a recent research study conducted by Tnooz and commissioned by Triptease, when it comes to booking a hotel stay, travellers assume online travel agencies offer the best prices.

The research involved 1,000 travellers between the ages of 18 and 64. A resounding 75 per cent of the participants were in favour of booking through OTAs.

Tnooz asked the remaining 25 per cent why they chose to book direct and at the Direct Booking Summit in London last week, Triptease CEO Charlie Osmond said the top reason given was cheaper prices. Other reasons included an easier booking process and a more comfortable check-in experience.

Of the entire sample group, 30 per cent believed guests who book direct should be rewarded with a room upgrade when available; 25 per cent preferred free WiFi; 20 per cent wanted free breakfast; and 17 per cent asked for early check-in and late check-out options.
