VANCOUVER — The 13th annual Coast Hotels Shuhachi Naito Golf Classic raised more than $70,000 for the ALS Society of B.C. and The Salvation Army.

The event, held July 9 at the Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club in Coquitlam, B.C., attracted support from hospitality industry suppliers, entrepreneurs and managers. The tournament was named after Coast’s former senior executive Shuhachi Naito who lost his battle with ALS last year.

“Bringing our community together to support two exceptional causes is so rewarding,” said Robert Pratt, president of Coast Hotels. “Coast believes in being an active part of our communities and our annual golf tournament is one way we help make a difference,” he added.

“We are grateful for the donation received from Coast Hotels,” said Wendy Toyer, executive director of the ALS Society of B.C. “So many are touched by this disease and we continue to fight the battle to support patients and their families.”
Coast and its partners have raised a total of $678,000 during the 13-year history of the event.
