TORONTO — The Chelsea Hotel, Toronto has appointed Shane Downey as managing director. Downey brings a wealth of experience in large hotel operations, as well as experience having worked in five-star luxury, select-service and extended-stay hotels.
Downey’s hospitality career spans more than 20 years where he has worked in Europe, the Middle East, U.S. and Canada with Marriott, Hilton and some independent hotels. He led the opening, re-branding and re-conceptualization of many properties, as well as managing multiple capital projects exceeding millions of dollars. He’s originally from Ireland where he earned his B.B.S. in International Hotel Management at Shannon College of Hotel Management.
Downey was most recently the general manager for the Delta Hotel, Toronto. Prior to that, he was hotel manager at the Sheraton Centre, Toronto.
