TORONTO — Just a year after CBC Marketplace’s damning report on hotel cleanliness aired in Canada, the television news program has found there is still a problem after retesting rooms in six of the country’s biggest hotel chains, reports CBC News.

“Certain hotels have actually gone backwards. They’ve actually gotten worse,” microbiologist Keith Warriner told Marketplace co-host Erica Johnson, reports CBC.

Although there were improvements in the cleanliness of ice machines and air vents since last year, there were still problems with unclean bedding, surfaces and more.

The Marketplace investigation airs tonight on CBC at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT) [cbc.ca].
