HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — Canadian hotel performance reported flat occupancy for the week ending December 12 compared to prior week, according to STR data.

In a year-over-year comparison, the industry reported a 56.6-per-cent drop in occupancy to 24.6 per cent, a 27.9-per-cent decrease in Average Daily Rate (ADR) to $106.23 and a 68.7-per-cent decrease in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) to $26.13. For comparison, the previous week, ending December 5, saw occupancy of 24.7 per cent, ADR at $106.07 and RevPAR of $26.19.

B.C. recorded the week’s highest provincial occupancy level at 28.2 per cent (down slightly from 28.3 per cent the previous week). Vancouver saw the highest occupancy level of the major markets, at 26.4 per cent (down from 27.3 per cent the previous week).

The lowest occupancy among the provinces was reported in New Brunswick, which saw a 16.9-per-cent occupancy level for the week (up from 14.5 per cent the previous week). At the market level, the lowest occupancy was seen in Calgary, with occupancy at 15.7 per cent (down slightly from 15.8 per cent the week prior).
