HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — Canadian hotels saw slightly higher occupancy for the week ending January 23 compared to prior weeks, according to STR data.
In a year-over-year comparison, the industry reported a 58-per-cent drop in occupancy to 23 per cent, a 29.1-per-cent decrease in Average Daily Rate (ADR) to $104.86 and a 70.2-per-cent decrease in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) to $24.13. Occupancy for previous weeks came in at 22.6 per cent (January 16), 21 per cent (January 9) and 19.9 per cent (January 2).
B.C. recorded the week’s highest provincial occupancy level at 29.6 per cent. Vancouver saw the highest occupancy level of the major markets, at 28.7 per cent.
The lowest occupancy among the provinces was reported in New Brunswick, which saw a 13.6-per-cent occupancy level for the week. At the market level, the lowest occupancy was seen in Montreal, at 12.6 per cent.
