TORONTO — Starwood Hotels and Resorts Canada and Edmonton Marriott at River Cree Resort are among those who have been recognized on a list of the 50 Most Engaged Workplaces in Canada.

“More employers are realizing the most successful organizations are those that invest in employee engagement,” said Razor Suleman, CEO and founder of the Toronto-based I Love Rewards, the company handing out the accolades. “We’re thrilled to honour those companies that are truly committed to creating positive, thriving work environments. These companies understand their employees are their greatest asset and are leading by example as they revolutionize the workplace.”

The Starwood team is honoured to be recognized for this annual award, which recognizes top employers that display leadership and innovation towards engaging employees. “We’re excited with this first-time honour and attribute our win to an in-depth focus on our associates and ensuring a vibrant workplace culture,” said Kim Gilliard, regional director of HR for Starwood Canada. “Our three promises of ‘go the extra step’, ‘play as a team’ and ‘do the right thing’ are instilled into each and every leader and associate.”

The judges evaluated each applicant on eight elements of employee engagement: communication, leadership, culture, rewards and recognition, professional and personal growth, accountability and performance, vision and values and corporate social responsibility.

The winners will be recognized at a Nov. 15 gala in Toronto.
