AYLMER, Que. — The oldest hotel west of Montreal, Aylmer, Que.’s historic British Hotel, has undergone a four-year, multi-million dollar renovation.

The heritage renovation of this 1834 building features the original metre-thick stone walls and hand-hewn timber beams, surrounded by modern conveniences and luxurious stylings. The now completed hotel offers 10 sumptuous rooms situated above a pub, a restaurant featuring live music and a banquet facility. Across a limestone patio is a former bank, now serving as the British Café.

The re-opening celebrations continue throughout the weekend with free concerts, children’s entertainers, and public tours.
