NEW YORK — Condé Nast’s Bon Appétit magazine has announced its 10 Best Food Lovers Hotels in America, and Blackberry Farm, located in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains, tops the list.
“We’re honoured to be listed as the number-1 hotel in America for food lovers,” said Sam Beall, proprietor of Blackberry Farm. “We constantly aim to provide the best culinary experience for guests by providing experiences that celebrate the region, the highest quality ingredients possible and authentic southern character.”
Number six on the list, Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm, in New Mexico, was selected for its focus on fresh, organic farm-to-fork dining. Bon Appétit contributing authors Christopher Hirsheimer and Melissa Hamilton, praised Los Poblanos’ talented cooks “for their regionally inspired Rio Grande Valley cuisine,” described as almost completely organic.
Sourcing for the list isn’t necessarily easy. “You’d think this is simple to find — but it’s not always the case that food and beverage programs are as carefully thought out as other aspects of a hotel,” said Dan Aldworth, associate PR director, Bon Appétit,
The list is compiled based on hotels with outstanding food as well as cocktail and wine programs that set them apart from the competition.”
The top 10 list will be featured in the magazine’s May travel issue. [bonappetit.com]
