THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, Ont. — Blue Mountain Resort has joined the Protect Our Winters (POW) Resort Alliance to act against climate change. Blue Mountain’s parent company, Alterra Mountain Company has already partnered with POW.

“This is a primary step but an important one,” says Tara Lovell, manager of Public Relations for Blue Mountain Resort. “At Blue, we’ve always said that we love winter, and this pledge will help hold ourselves accountable to doing what we can to preserve it.”

“Our Resort Alliance is a coalition of resort operators from across Canada who realize they can’t stay on the sidelines when it comes to climate change. Their businesses and the future of skiing depend on taking bold action against it,” says Anik Champoux, POW Canada Program Director.

“Blue Mountain Resort has always been a huge part of the identity of the Collingwood area. It’s very inspiring to see them take such a big step towards ensuring the protection of winter sports for future generations to enjoy,” says Derek McDonald, POW Regional Chapter Leader. “As the local Collingwood Chapter of Protect Our Winters Canada, we love where we live and are passionate about preserving it. We look forward to our partnership with Blue Mountain Resort and are excited to see our outdoor community grow and take action against climate change.”
