MONTREAL — Baptiste Peupion is the new executive chef at Montreal’s Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, effective March 21.

Peupion brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, including executive chef at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, chef de cuisine at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris and chef at several Michelin-starred restaurants, including Le Louis XV at Hotel de Paris in Monaco and the Hotel de Crillon in Paris.

“We are very proud to welcome Baptiste to lead our experienced brigade. He was instrumental in developing the new successful culinary style at the Château and played a significant role in the new vision of their outlets,” says Patrick Lamy, hotel manager at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth. “His experience and knowledge will be tremendous assets for our team as we prepare to reinvent and modernize our own culinary offerings.”

In 2015, Peupion obtained the title of Maitre Cuisinier de France, one of only 570 chefs in the world — and seven in Canada — to have received this title. He is known for his culinary approach of using fresh products and developing strong ties with Quebec producers. “I am delighted to join the talented brigade of The Queen Elizabeth just before the hotel undertakes this great transformation and writes a new chapter of its history,” says Peupion. “The hotel has an illustrious culinary record and I hope to bring it to life and surprise guests with a completely renewed offer.”
