VANCOUVER — Japanese hospitality firm APA Group is buying Coast Hotels from Tokyo-based Okabe Co. Ltd., according to the Vancouver Sun.

The sale of the Vancouver-headquartered hotel chain, worth $210 million, is being made by way of a share-transfer agreement, which was completed July 28 and is expected to close early next month.

Coast Hotels has 36 properties under its banner in North America, including the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in Vancouver, the Benson Hotel in Portland and Waimea Plantation Cottages in Hawaii.

The purchase of Coast represents a larger push into the North American market for APA Group, which is Japan’s largest hospitality firm.
