SEATTLE, Wash. — Amazon has quietly shuttered its Amazon Destinations travel booking site only six months after its launch.
The site — which launched in April — specialized in close-to-home vacation bookings, connecting customers with hotels and destinations for weekend and short-term getaways.
The company abruptly shut down the website’s services, noting that all previously existing bookings will be honoured. Amazon has made little comment on the closure aside from a brief message on the Amazon Destinations site which states that it has “stopped selling reservations on travel.amazon.com and the Amazon Local app”.
