CALGARY — Montreal-based Groupe Germain Hospitalité has announced plans to build an Alt Hotel in Calgary’s East Village.

The $34-million hotel will overlook the Bow River. “[The] East Village is currently buzzing with activity and promises to quickly evolve into a neighbourhood full of vitality that visitors will want to spend time in,” said Christiane Germain, co-president of Groupe Germain Hospitalité.

The new hotel will feature 155 guestrooms, loft-style windows, 5,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and two retail areas on the main floor. The project is pending approval from municipal authorities and is expected to be completed in 2017.

Alt Hotel Calgary is the fourth property in development by Groupe Germain Hospitalité, in addition to its 10 hotels already in operation. Two new Alt hotels will open in downtown Winnipeg in 2015 and Ottawa in 2016.
