VICTORIA — Accent Inns Inc. has been recognized for its workplace culture by the 2019 North American Employee Engagement Awards, which were recently held in New York. The company was recognized as ‘Highly Commended’ in the Culture & Purpose category — beating out finalists such as Etsy, Arity and Post Beyond.

“Being recognized by the Employee Engagement Awards for our workplace culture is a great accomplishment for all of us at Accent Inns Inc.,” says Mandy Farmer, president and CEO, Accent Inns Inc. “Our greatest asset has always been our people and we work hard at building a culture that fosters their success — both professionally and personally.”

Accent Inns’ strong employee culture is reflected in its 2018 Employee Survey results, which showed 95 per cent of staff agreed or strongly agreed with the statement ‘I am happy to be here’ — up from 85 per cent in 2017. The company also boasts and impressive 22 per cent of its staff has been with one of the hotels for more than 10 years.

Based on employee feedback, Accent Inns recently rolled out a new “Welcome to Hotel Awesomeness Training” (WHAT) onboarding program for employees of the company’s Accent Inns and Hotel Zed properties. Employees are set up for success with comprehensive training, two-way feedback and celebrations when the employee hits their 30-, 60- and 90-day milestones.
