CALGARY — Hilton Worldwide and The Widewaters Group, Inc. recently announced the opening of the dual-branded Hilton Garden Inn Calgary Downtown and Homewood Suites by Hilton Calgary Downtown. This new addition, owned by Calgary Operating Company, Inc., brings 320 new rooms to the downtown-Calgary area, further expanding Hilton Worldwide’s footprint in international markets.
“Calgary’s tourism has seen consistent growth, reaching more than eight million visitors and $1.7 billion in tourism spending,” says Christopher Vachon, GM at Complex. “As a highly sought-after destination in Canada, this urban locale offers an ideal setting to introduce a dual-branded hotel that meets the various needs of guests.”
The property is in close proximity to many of Calgary’s local attractions, including the National Music Centre, Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary Stampede, Calgary Tower, Calgary Zoo, St. Patrick’s Island, Heritage Park Historical Village and nature trails across the nearby Rocky Mountains.
“The Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton Calgary Downtown is our first joint venture in Canada,” says Bob Spoto, VP of Hotel Operations, Widewaters Hotel. “We realized a number of years ago the strength of the Calgary and Canadian marketplace and the need for these two unique Hilton product offerings in the marketplace. The hotel has two separate lobbies and dining areas, with 3,016 sq. ft. dedicated to meeting spaces, which can accommodate up to 200 people.
Homewood Suites by Hilton offers both studio and one-bedroom suites, which feature fully equipped kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas. Complimentary services include, daily full-hot breakfast, Wi-Fi and grocery shopping service.
Amenities at the Hilton Garden Inn include the Garden Grille and Bar — which offers a full cooked-to-order breakfast and dinner; the Pavilion Pantry — featuring a selection of salty snacks, sweets, cold beverages and frozen, microwaveable items, available 24-hours-a-day; complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel; 24-hour business centre and in-room hospitality centre with a mini fridge, microwave oven and a Keurig coffee maker.
