STAMFORD, Conn. — Guests at Westin hotels in top travel markets can now use a new mobile platform and website that serves as a digital destination guide, steering travellers to local sightseeing spots and under-the-radar destinations.

“We are delighted to join forces with Afar, one of the most highly respected travel brands, to help our guests plan one-of-a-kind travel experiences that go off the beaten path and beyond the typical tourist experience,” said Brian Povinelli, global brand leader, Westin Hotels & Resorts and Le Meridien.

Created through a partnership with Afar, a San Francisco-based travel media brand, Westin Finds From Afar recommends destinations in the area of the hotel and personalizes recommendations based on whether the user is travelling alone, with friends or in a couple.

The service has launched in more than 40 global travel destinations, including Athens, Boston, Montreal, New York, Portland, San Francisco and Shanghai, and it will be available in all Westin hotels and resorts by the end of the year.
