ESSEX COUNTY, Ont. — The Town of Lakeshore is waiving building permits in the hope it will attract a hotel to the town, according to CBC News.

Officials with the town say attracting a hotel is one of its key strategic priorities, adding that local businesses, residents and sports organizations are in support of the initiative. The town is proposing that the hotel be located near the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre.

The Town of Lakeshore’s building-permit waiver follows an announcement in March that the Town of Tecumseh, Ont. would offer a one-year moratorium on commercial and hotel building-permit fees in an effort to encourage development in the area and attract a hotel.
