It’s not often that an architect firm publishes a book, but last week Toronto-based Webb Zerafa Menkes Housden Architects (WZMH) launched “The First Fifty Years,” a book chronicling the firm’s illustrious history.

To launch the initiative, the firm held a swanky cocktail reception downtown, which attracted some of the firm’s most loyal clients as well as media.

WZMH’s reach is vast, with successful projects spanning five decades in every major Canadian centre and several cities abroad including Abu Dhabi, Shanghai, Cairo and Kuwait. In fact, the company’s inception dates back to the early 1960s; WZMH’s early roots have connections to The Four Seasons Hotel and even, John Turner, a young lawyer who would go on to become Prime Minister of Canada. Among the firm’s most well-know clients are The Four Seasons, The Nile Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Cairo and the Corniche St. Regis in Abu Dhabi.
