TORONTO — A new bar has opened in the city’s downtown core that is inspired by a retro home in Beverly Hills. The Addisons Residence opened last week on Wellington St., offering a unique kind of bar experience. The newly renovated space allows guests to explore different rooms with ease, including the kitchen, living room and rec room, as well as a 5,000 sq.-ft. backyard patio set to open later this summer.
The story behind this unique domestically inspired concept begins with the Addisons family, a fictional family widely known for throwing spectacular, sophisticated parties. It’s hoped the LA-esque residence will be the new go-to destination for guests to enjoy the company of their friends in the comfort of a perfectly styled house.
The Addisons’ drink program finds roots in the atmosphere of the venue itself; that of an
upscale house party. Head Bartender Ryan Smyth has designed the drink menu so that each room provides a different drink concept for a unique experience. In any home, the kitchen is where ingredients are found, and The Addisons Residence is no different. Guests can expect to find playful elements such as cereal, milk or jello making their way into the drinks. The living room will be home to a cocktail cart and bartenders crafting custom drinks to suit all taste profiles. The rec room, equipped with a foosball table, shuffleboard, and plenty of screens to watch the big game, will offer classic drinks for the traditionalist. It will come as no surprise that the backyard offers slush-style drinks, as well as punch bowls, taking guests back to nostalgic memories of house parties.
As with any house party, catering is a main attraction. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy unique food offerings from The Food Dudes to complement their drinks and enhance their experience. Guests will enjoy classic favourites such as the double hamburger, fried chicken and jerk roasted fish, while no house party is complete without the staple items: nachos of every variety, and wings of every flavour. The Addisons Residence is located at 456 Wellington St. West, and is opened Wednesday to Friday, 5 p.m. to late and Saturday, 7 p.m. to late. The venue, or individual rooms, are available for private and corporate events.
